Grape Varieties: 50% Merlot and 50% Sangiovese.

The 2011 50 & 50 represents a joint venture between two historic estates in Tuscany and two complimentary grape varieties, Merlot and Sangiovese. This vintage shows some mild astringency and sourness that is a common denominator in past vintages of this blend. The 2011 heat has helped to soften those more rigid qualities with compelling tones of cherry, wild berry, white truffle, licorice and balsam herb. In my opinion, this wine performs better in the warm vintages.   Robert Parker: 91 points
